The system is designed for clients
to place examination orders. The clients can enter orders and transmit
the orders for processing. The system is capable of downloading
order confirmations, status on the orders placed. The system can
also print various Inspection / Teledex reports.
The order files that are received
from the clients are in various formats. These files are received
and sent through different sources. Currently the files are received
through the Internet, AT&T Network using SDK Toolkit (HHIDIAL SYSTEM),
Co-session communication software and other sources.
SMI staff was responsible for Information
System analysis, design, and implementation of a client/server application
developed with Microsoft Visual Basic under Microsoft Windows NT/Server
with an Oracle Database. The SMI staff consisted of a Project Leader
and (4) Sr. Visual Basic Programmer/Analysts responsible for the
analysis, design, and implementation of this system because the
old system had to maintain individual database files for each client.
